#3) Tuesday, September 06, 2005
LANDS IT! welllll, first off, doobie does what doobie wants. or at least what kelley doesn't want. otherwise, just trying to make a living and practice tuba without the hassles of school. 8 is enough they say. for now the weather is sweet, and the terrain isn't lame like illin-wah.

there are more vanity plates in illinois than anywhere else. because, if you end your plate in a number, it's not considered vanity, hence, no extra charge. which would make the one of the sweetest possible plates a possibility - PMO. replace O with zero, 0, and you're set for life. npm0.

just so long as i get to tell the "flashes middle school class on the beach" story...and the "talks to cop in irish accent story"... wait, aren't those the same thing?

speaking of things in the sky... looks like the highlight for the Ohio team in this weekends game vs. the hokies will be the flyover before the game from a B-2. all fans not in a regional-enough area should head to their local bars with espn gameplan. the bomber is something not to be missed! sucks to those lucky bobcats-marr!
#8) Tuesday, September 20, 2005

the origin of the word picnic... anybody ever try to figure that one out? well, as me and my white brethren have finally finished our drinking and party-type plantation games, it's time we "pic" a "nic" to get hanged. not hung, that's me. this "nic" is now to be hanged. HANG EM HIGH - my favorite level in halo just because of how I say it...

weak. willing to bet less than 10% of the Uri! population notices this post...
#16) Thursday, May 18, 2006
I agree. This game is superb. The best of the best in recent memory. The amazing graphics, combined with ease of game-play, and engaging plot are all top shelf. Indeed, this game is one for the ages...
#18) Thursday, May 25, 2006
wouldn't that be a homophobic setting, rather than a "non-homophobic"? plus, i don't see whats so non-homoerotic about sitting in a boat with a bunch of dudes in their speedo swimsuits while one hemi tells you to stroke it. don't be gay, brian. don't be gay
#19) Thursday, June 15, 2006
Obviously applying to blue ribbon brass as well! Otis? Sweet. Jim? Sweet. Doobie? Hella. Shac? Fine. Kelley? .....dyuhhhhhhhhh gottanygum?
#20) Wednesday, June 21, 2006
You MUST have meant, "subtitled the most hella awesome game in the universe, and they never should have made a sucky halo 2 because halo 1 is so great that they might as well have stopped making any other games all together. except tony hawk 4, which they should come out with some updates for." easy mistake.
#21) Wednesday, July 12, 2006
Pip, you're not gonna be a happy camper! Either that or Kelley is a liar. Hopefully both, but not both. And U2 IS great. I mean, seriously, one of the best bands of all time; a group of musicians rivaled by none.
#23) Tuesday, August 01, 2006
Ahhh yes... I am a supporting cast member. I'll take the high road on "member" and add the note that I am the bra that holds all you boobs together. with support. get it? manzeer. pip you dog.

I'm glad this convict killer guy at Tech helped us all learn something that I've known for years: Sideburns Rule!! yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAA CHOPS!
#30) Wednesday, September 13, 2006
Halo: THE greatest first person shooter ever made. not halo 2, halo 2 sucks. don't ever listen to kelley.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4: the only fun anyone should ever have when playing a skateboarding game. not tony hawk underground, not underground 2, not anything else. they frickin landed it with thps4 and still keep making games that suck more... IDIOTS!
#31) Friday, September 15, 2006
being old sucks... but being BU! is cool... hey, at least you're not kelley! happy bday
#32) Thursday, September 21, 2006
to be fair... he lasted about a year longer than i would have, had i gone to UVA. but to be unfair... what a dumbass. i'm sure he's super interesting, friendly, well-adjusted, and awesome. sure like a fox. and yes, the first time i ever played super mario was at a friend's house, and he was on level 8. so i started playing that game on 8-1. worst move ever. luckily i didn't give up, and it eventually got fun.
#33) Friday, September 22, 2006
if farinelli is that movie in hams where i don't know what's going on until that chick sits in the bathtub and has her balls cut off, i'm gonna kick you in the nuts for making me remember that... how can i have a good anything, let alone a weekend, after that thought.
#34) Friday, September 22, 2006
man, i love how your mom totally ignores me and posts anyway. she rules. everybody else just ignores...losers. aggressive passivity is much more powerful against me than passive aggressiveness.
#35) Friday, September 22, 2006
Well, at least i don't have any more feelings now...now that you've stomped all over them. feelings are dumb, unless that feeling is that notre dame (and by proxy, michigan state) sucks.
#36) Monday, September 25, 2006
ahhh, james k. polk, our 11th president. young hickory they used to call him. created an independant treasury as i recall. did all he needed to do in his first 4 years, so he sought no second term. the ultimate dark horse candidate.
#39) Friday, September 29, 2006
so i was all "sweet, mitch hedberg. i knew this site was going on an upswing." but then you had to go and bring up some gay felines and two homocats. you had me at "that's a fresher" and you blew it. BLEW IT! your mom blew it.
#40) Tuesday, October 03, 2006
you already can't make left or u-turns. new jersey is the worst thing in the world. ever.
see the bloodhound gang tune, 10 best things about new jersey. that's the only positive thing about that place.
support the annexation!
#41) Monday, October 30, 2006
yeah - i live here year-round and it just makes me hate myself when i think of 60 degrees as an outright cold front. suckers. i think i saw a leaf on a cactus once.
#44) Wednesday, December 06, 2006
further, who would want to do anything when he has tricked a soon-to-be-rich chick into marrying him?
#45) Thursday, December 07, 2006
I was chief AV guy in head of nerds who teach classes in Squires for a few years at tech, and i got to sit in on dr. roberston's civil war class for a year... and i don't like history, or a lot of words for that matter, but when i was awake, that guy's class was awesome. despite having a pretty severe lisp, he was a great speaker and obviously PASSIONATE about his work. Kelley puts the "ass" in "passionate"
#46) Monday, December 11, 2006
Further, his name is OTIS... although it has many of the same letters as scott, it's just not the same.
#48) Monday, December 18, 2006
ummm, so i get that you're a sweet date, but how could somebody else convince you that prom in 99 was a good idea? unless...AH HA. and you do have a horn, it's just lower and not called a horn.
#49) Wednesday, December 20, 2006
i love that after all these years it still looks like i'm yelling at jason's cock, or throwing up on it, instead of attempting to suck it... doesn't it? DOESN'T IT?? oh the shame/hilarity
#60) Friday, January 05, 2007
1) i don't think that would be a tough decision for anyone.. you're just making the wrong one
and
2) you're plugging the dike with your finger... LANDS IT!
#61) Tuesday, January 09, 2007
look, you can't jack-move the term bank, nor anything else that could be said to otis about a place where money is kept, things are purchased or sold, or anything else... you just can't. i'm not buying it (tm), and there can surely be no attempt to sell it (r).
#62) Wednesday, January 10, 2007
i want a week of what people's life would be like without doobie. one day each for otis, shac, and kelley, as well as one day to BU!, and one day to the world. my gigantnomous affect on the over half of the readers here would surely have sent their lives in an upward spiral that could be interesting
one time, at band camp, in high school, we got an aeorbie stuck in a tree near the practice field. luckily, it was there the next day, on the ground. then one time at stretch's condo in jacksonville i threw one into the ocean...never to return...before flashing those wussie middle-schoolers.
#71) Wednesday, February 21, 2007
oh man, i was just about to check out that chick's myspace webpage when i realized that i'm over 18 and not gay.... damn.

#78) Wednesday, March 14, 2007

switching to tuba your senior year in high school.... GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's a shame Jurassic park didn't come out a few years earlier... the headlines could have been: "Little boys head explodes with prehistoric sci-fi-filled delight!" kapow
#88) Tuesday, April 17, 2007
well said. clearly, some of the most thoughtful writing i've read on this site. the events have been overwhelmingly sickening. but, to quote dave mckee, "recover, recover, recover, recover." the ra in waj was a baritone player in mvs.
#89) Thursday, April 19, 2007

#95) Tuesday, May 08, 2007
1) more chickens than people in delaware, so this should get done in no time, nobody wants bird herpes
2) little background on rehoboth beach.... there's something queer about that place. i have this live recording of a group who sang something about gay people... right after that they say "we just did this one down in rehoboth beach and it didn't go over too well" or something equally stupid since nobody's ever heard of rehoboth beach... UNTIL NOW!

#100) Wednesday, May 30, 2007
my latin name was Xerxes. the best french phrase is "le oui" the best spanish phrase is "el si" i HAD to take 2 semesters of a foreign language to get me masters of motherloving music degree from stupid illinois... that can suck my balls just because smart VT didn't require me to take any foreign language, since 5 years of one seemed like enough... IDIOTS
#101) Thursday, June 07, 2007

doobie weed mexican smuggling dog fighting ring
#104) Monday, June 25, 2007
no married couple could ever win a fight because each couple contains at least one man (or in kelley's case - a dick with no balls), and men must always lose fights once married.
#105) Monday, July 02, 2007
(dixie in the background) (general flies overhead) (lands it!)
it's not our fault that (good) horn players are impossible to find.
#107) Thursday, July 26, 2007

#113) Wednesday, November 21, 2007
BU!, thanks for making a whole day for me. it's been long overdue. despite my feigned secrecah (its french for secrecy) you've managed to find out and still npmo. I did manage to take notes at one point, in honour of you. Email me if you'd like a copy for the archives, as well as any high-res pics. More "doobie-devoted days would be appreciated by all, but mostly hated by Kelley. Hence, everyone would approve.
That tuba solo was weakly played. I demand a do-over. P M O.
#115) Thursday, January 24, 2008
woohoo, taking last semester's finals at the beginning of this semester is awesome!! not awesome. stupid strep throat and going to kelley's house.
#121) Monday, August 04, 2008
Actually, that picture is not quite as self-explanatory as you might think. Here's the deal:
It was taken in Amsterdam. (i guess i could stop there, but...)
I'm really pointing at my "hot air tuba camp" shirt, not the booze, which says "4th Session: Amsterdam"
The chops are real, the rent-a-cop 'stache is kickin', and I guess I suck at pointing when I'm...in Amsterdam.
#122) Monday, August 04, 2008
agreed, I really am looking sweet!!
trumpet? f that. talk about halo... a little griff ball could be in order
#125) Friday, August 08, 2008

#127) Monday, August 25, 2008
i just got some popsticks that have these written on them...
Q: why do rhino-sauruses have some many wrinkles?
A: they're hard to iron
Q: what kind of horse only like to be ridden in the dark?
A: a nightmare
but some of them are more like riddles....
Q: what is something that everyone is doing but at different rates?
A: growing older

Tuesday is dollar beer night at Dirt Bags!! (the best way to prep for your 5:00 class is to drink about 10 of those beers and show up at 5:15... for 5 straight weeks)
#130) Thursday, October 02, 2008
Eric Fischer (kos-mo)
Matt Davis (rip cord)
Pete Macedo (sox)
Chris Fraker (me)

#131) Monday, October 06, 2008
Way to go, you two!!
especially BU! (for knowing twice as many chicks as dudes)
#135) Tuesday, December 09, 2008
I think that fast blinking means their blinker is about to go out. Maybe your peevishness should reach to a deeper level, i.e., that people don't maintain their vehicles properlah.
#136) Tuesday, December 16, 2008
sorry dude, ben was the winner. 4 out of 5 1st places? that's all you need to know. what is this, the B(U!)CS poker tournament?
#137) Thursday, December 18, 2008
at least that kid learned to do head shots from playing halo... xmas burn!
#138) Friday, December 19, 2008
that picture is still sweet, even after all these years and still not quite being me
#145) Friday, January 09, 2009
nothing against iowa... except that it's ultra boring and flat (insert joke THERE) - but that dave and tim cd came from that college, so that's good, right?
#147) Tuesday, March 03, 2009
I remember the day well...
Kriss Kross - Totally Crossed Out

#149) Thursday, March 19, 2009
my father-in-law was the director of the school of music that Regina Spektor attended at the time - Purchase College. On a cd the school made to highlight their students, is a track of her singing a very "different" version of Mocking Bird. Pretty cool stuff too.
(available upon request)
#150) Thursday, March 26, 2009
looked to me like the QUANTUM contract should be shredded. i'll have kathy draft another one asap and fax it right over
#151) Tuesday, April 28, 2009
yesterday was boozeday. on account of the 10 pbr cans i consumed for lunch.
not sure why i still can't find a job. at least i'm in school for another week or so...
#153) Monday, May 04, 2009
how many unique birthday days do you (BU!) have in your bday list?
#154) Monday, May 04, 2009

#155) Thursday, May 07, 2009
damn right it's steak! direct from the grills of puuuuulaski virginny! don't mind if i do

60% of blue ribbon brass...nastay. _____% chance of contracting an std?
#159) Wednesday, May 27, 2009
that looks a lot harder than tuba audition, which consisted of the hokie pokie solo and a scale.
#160) Monday, June 01, 2009
i moved 5 tons of rocks from the front yard to the back. it's more rocks than i thought in terms of moving them in small loads. but it's less that projected in terms of overall coverage.
fyi, "sante fe brown" looks like "sante fe blue" when "installed" on the "lawn"
#161) Tuesday, July 07, 2009
today's post is incomplete, despite your best personal efforts on facebook.
irregardlessly, it's good to have daily updates back!
#162) Thursday, July 16, 2009
I'm going to have to call inappropriate sports joke on that warren moon issue. He was a qb, so he didn't have to make catches. Funny would have been with braylon edwards, TO, anybody who plays for the cowboys, or anybody from FSU, Miami, West Virginia, or (obviously) UVA.
#163) Friday, July 24, 2009
How about "da uri zone"?
Or even better "doobie is sweet"
#164) Thursday, August 27, 2009
I'm 30. It's terrible.
I live in the desert of Tucson (pronounced tuck-sahn). It's hot, but my wife and I have AC.
I just graduated with another degree that I am unable to utilize in gainful employment.
I look for a job all day, and hope that I too, one day, can become as good a house-husband as kelley.
I play golf now, and yesterday, in my third full round ever, I shaved 30 strokes off my game. Down to 121. Jealous.
#169) Friday, September 18, 2009
special occasion? hello! there's a tech game on saturday. that is special enough.
#170) Wednesday, September 23, 2009
ugh, thanks for the spoiler alert. i was totally going to guess john basedow's body.
uh oh, a reaction similar to that of the WoW searcher seems appropriate...
#171) Friday, September 25, 2009
all this talk of blue ribbons is making me thirsty! i always knew our quintet stood for sex trafficking.
irregardlessly, have a great time marrying your first wife!
#174) Monday, October 26, 2009
i tried golfing some more, and my elbow is only just now recovering. pmo.
and i updated my resume to allow for quicker rejection letters!

"like an emo lottery ticket"
priceless
still loving the t-shirt i saw with the slogan:
"i wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself"
#178) Tuesday, November 24, 2009 fark.com is a fairly funny news site a la the 3 daily tags from this site
(many probably know of this already)
thenorthendzone.com is a vt sports blog with some humor sprinkled in, much like vt football (currently, a baby with a mangino mustache is funny)
#186) Wednesday, January 20, 2010
i was probably also first chair in symphony band and loving that a snow day meant not having to drink from my flask in front of those kids during auditions...
got role model?
#192) Wednesday, March 10, 2010
whilst yous were enjoying breathtaking ferret cuisine, i went to a big medical trade show in cold-lanta and completed flash cs4 essential skills 1 in feau-enix.
in doing so, i visited the hard rock cafe twice in one week, bringing my life's all time hard rock visit total to 2.
#197) Monday, April 19, 2010

#198) Friday, April 23, 2010
damn, too slow on the j-unit.
so, tell me more about this harpoon brewery!
#199) Monday, April 26, 2010
"private karaoke" should be an oxymoron.
also went to BB&B, but got a humidifier - not sure why it took 5 years in the desert to realize we needed that.
no fish or korean food to speak of.
#201) Wednesday, June 02, 2010
since demolay is obviously a cult, i'd be a little scared about the potential of one of its "former" child stars moving so close to you...
#202) Thursday, June 03, 2010
i look forward to seeing that list day.
btw, just saying "blue ribbon brass" is a complete cop out.
also, it's my list - self included.
#207) Thursday, August 05, 2010 1) Who are you?
Doobie...err, Chris if you ask my wife
2) How do you know me?
this one time, at band camp (seriously), i kept seeing this guy in a members only-type jacket. then i noticed he would be in line with me at dietrich express a lot. love was born with daily hamburgers and fries.
3) How and when did you find this site?
had to be in the late 90s when the VT trumpet page began to overtake the tuba page in views... a sad time in the life of the web.
4) Where is your website?
currently in post-production. for now, you can follow my insanely relevant tweets at @frackalack5) What would you like to say to the rest of us?
get to know kelley now. i realize you'll think it's a waste of time, so i apologize in advance. however, he is going to physically die when he goes to boot camp (his soul has been dead for hundreds of years already). so, you know, then you can say you met a dead guy.
#208) Friday, August 20, 2010
and two more weeks until i'm in toledo watching what passes for pac-10 football. but mostly trying not to die of anticipation of the bosie state labor day beatdown.
ugh, just noticed (hate that i go on facebook even this much) that it may be time to change to "Brandy (Buckles) Baxter" or whatever she's calling herself now.
I'll chalk that up to sickness and cats getting turned on in washing machines...
#209) Friday, August 27, 2010
what were the scores and who won are the more important questions...
#210) Tuesday, September 07, 2010
1) one for each half of the toilet
2) those aren't gouges, they're remnants from the project you started intending to paint the bathroom white. clearly, you don't follow through. your poor wife.
3) why would you use toothpaste to scrub a toilet?
4) it's less abrasive than agent orange, but still packs the same family-friendly, poop-cleansing punch

ahhh, based on your crush we can see how the tides have turned. (see two and a half men, alan's recent romantic involvement)

you just blew your own mind.

i get the feeling that this is "the last thing you see before BU shows you the picture of the people you killed who didn't deserve to die."
then, you know, he goes all dexter on you...
#234) Tuesday, April 19, 2011
looks like the site of a massive fender bender. and, if i'm not mistaken, those are all women drivers...
lesson: women can't drive, but they'd be completely foolish to let BU! get behind the wheel.
#235) Thursday, April 21, 2011
totally agree on quantum leap... it's such a pain to try and catch that in random reruns.

i wish tucson would secede, then i could leave peacefully. however, that article just proves that any conversation started at the shanty isn't worth the free popcorn they serve there.

if you didn't have to work (or really report to anyone other than maybe your wife), where would you live and what would you do with (to?) yourself to occupy your days?

It's probably supposed to, but it doesn't.

forgetting about pmo is so pmo.
same as not getting credit on unban dictionary, etc.
all those "hyahs" and "thyahs" are a good reminder of how more people should talk...i should write a book.
i remember that picture too...and wearing that shirt b/c of laundry necessities... pmo. lucky girls though, np(them)o.

what else do you keep track of on a daily basis?

- I'm number 2, I'm number 2!!
- #2 in your programs, #1 in your hearts
- if we met in '97, isn't that 15 yrs? either way, it'll always be more than kelley.
- some sort of potty humor about the number 2

1) there's gotta be an "oops i crapped my pants" story in there somewhere....food poisoning at sharkey's maybe?
2) wine aerators. makes my inexplicably cheap taste in wine seem like a good idea for a glass or two.
3) i don't know if i necessarily "aspire" to live in malibu, but every time powerball gets me thinking about pot odds, i hop on zillow just to see how awesome it would be.

picked the trumpet in 6th grade because my dad played trumpet. stuck with it until band camp my senior year in high school when they needed another tuba player.
i gave it a shot and have been with it ever since. at first it was great because i had all the high range i wanted on tuba (but had to work at that with trumpet). eventually i figured out that playing low was where the money was made...and then the high range got even easier.
no one should ever play oboe or bassoon. having to make your own reeds is the worst thing ever.

birds of a feather and all that!
#317) Monday, June 24, 2013
i had a solid weekend #2 in northern michigan.
the mornings are still awesome (mid 60s), but the afternoons get up to a blistering 83 or so, which makes for a weird difference to Tucson. we're mostly used to it being 100 all day.
since the sun doesn't set until 9:30, it does stay "hot" for a good while into baby's bed time, which became a problem last night. but we were able to solve it with plenty of time to eat pie on the porch.
#318) Monday, June 24, 2013
It's an extended work remotely while the wife teaches at a band camp. It's an amazing getaway from the desert summer.

foremost, and probably obviously, i'd want to be able to save my progress.
i'd also want to be able to customize how many choices/levels of difficulty a la Wally Easter and macgamut.

while i must admit to a bit of frustration every time i don't get an expected post in the morning (because, it seems, i can't be bothered to ever remember it's the 12th of any month), it really is pretty cool getting to see some candid life shots every few weeks.
keep up the good work!

15 years ago... at 3 pounds a year... that seems right.
i guess you were taking the picture? no reason to have ONLY trumpet players in there

shouldn't there be a better tooth paste tube by now? it seems to me that the squeezing and dispensing both have room for improvement.
#338) Tuesday, January 28, 2014
not sure if i can agree with the english muffins here, but you might not have trader joes. (does that count as generic?) either way, a fork to break it open? a butter knife will serve double duty there unless you're eating it plain. a steak knife will also do if the muffin is too fragile.
we had cookies like that too - i believe ours were from the "Big Sixty" tray. three rows of 20 cookies...mmmmm.
does PBR count as a brand name?
#339) Tuesday, January 28, 2014
hmm, i like the way the butter soaks into the muffin that way.
i guess it's down to whether you like butter-soaked muffins, or butter-soaked butter.

best stand for a 50" tv that has space for several home theater components?
#409) Friday, September 25, 2015
thanks for that.
tv probably won't move - there's really only one good spot for it.
i'm slightly afraid of mounting the tv to the wall myself, but that mount does fit a sweet price pint.
i've given up on surround on any house not pre-wired for it (unless i'm planning to demolize it in the future). just going with center/L/R/sub.

that poster is timeless. ("pmo," bottles, faces, etc.)

Left the rest of my family in Michigan as I returned home to Tucson.
I also left sweet temps in favor of the desert. As such, I promptly scheduled golf yesterday afternoon at 11a to completely submerge myself back into the climate... obviously, the plan backfired when the cart girl came around at the 4th hole and then never again.
Cart girl PMO.

hmmm, maybe not.
too bad though... our little girl still has short hair since she hasn't been alive for very long.
so when her grandfather posts a picture of her holding big brother's baseball bat and calls her a "bat boy," people reply to how handsome our little (trans) baby (girl) is.
maybe you could look into the option of a temporary gender assignment option for the birth certificate. "subject to change/interpretation"?

desert living finally caught up with a tire on my car, so i had a 4-inch thorn removed from its sidewall. this resulted in having to replace the tire, but luckily only the one.
then an overdue carwash with a side of ice cream sandwich to keep the 5-yr-old interested.
on sunday we celebrated the return of brutally hot (100+) temps with soup and grilled cheese at the in-laws. as ever, good wine.

I didn't realize Nick Offerman was in the movie until I saw it. But agreed, he nailed it. And Michael Keaton does a great I'm-not-sure-if-i-hate-him-but-he-sure-is-sleazy character.

It seems unlikely (to me) that drum major auditions held by the xo (as i recall, ME, at the time) would have allowed such shenanigans.
That said, i do recall a rather heated discussion by leadership in dave mckee's office about who should win. I was far less diplomatic in those days. (read also, not at all.)
