The Daily Hour

So far, my Daily Hour experiment has been a success, with 9 out of 10 days fulfilled. The one day I missed was reserved for Evil Mike's convention hijinks. I'm really liking the emphasis on structure over goals, because I get to the reserved hour and have to come up with fun ways to fill it. This leads me to rotate through different types of activities and gives me an out when I've done something too often.

The chart on the right shows how I spent my time in the first nine hours of the year. In clockwise order I've done the following:

• Practiced the electric bass, learning the first five frets, major scales, and C blues arpeggios.
• Ran on the treadmill while watching 24 and reading old Gordon Korman books, or doing a set of stretched devised by the local Physical Therapy Assistant to ease my back pains.
• Organized several folders in my drawers, collapsed several Christmas boxes taking up space in the basement, and putting away a giant stack of "recently listened to" CDs.
• Formed a mouthguard, recommended by my dentist to reduce night grinding, which had been sitting on my desk for weeks.
• Adding entries to the Paravia Wiki, containing information about Janny Wurts' fantasy book series.
• Read an article on Wikipedia every day:
