While I don't have anything insanely worthwhile to contribute to the conversation of Salty Oats and federal aid, I just wanted to stop by and say hi :)

I think it is important to note that the 3rd season of Nip/Tuck is also coming out on DVD this month. Great show!

Calculator games have generated a lot of buzz in my college classes. Thus, I have thought of a new venture for you. You can provide me calculator game programming for free, and I will act as a middle(wo)man to then sell it to other college students, for a nominal fee, of which you will get 80%. Interested?? :)

Sean Cohan was so much hotter before he opened his mouth. And, as an experiment, I will attempt to subscribe to the dating website for a mere $1 donation from 10 of you. Any takers?
Brian, New Year's 05 Party was the hottest thing this millenium. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a trezur hunt.

I would buy Candy Land 2 if it included puffin bay gray as a dominant color.

I love the soldiers wearing pink. Very "dont ask, don't tell" of you.

"It's electric! (goby goby goby)". Fantastic. I laughed til I cried... literally. About as much as I laughed at, "english muffin. Delicious!" from Arrested Development.

Haha... Erin went to governor's school. She went for Latin, and she had to act in a play, where I'm pretty sure she was a prostitute. So much for worrying about teen pregnancies at "Latin camp". They were promoting promiscuous ways.

I house and dogsat for a lady on Mayflower Ct. for 2 weeks in June. It's right across the street from the apartment of your childhood babysitter and it is GHETTO.

Reading your post brought back memories of when I went to Europe, a mere 11 years ago. Anyhow, the Palace at Versailles was one of my absolute favorite places to go in my entire 3 week stay in Europe. It's beautiful. I'd also suggest Montmartre in Paris. When I went the district had places to get cheap and beautiful charcoal portraits done as well as serving the best crepes I've ever eaten.

I adore Ingrid Michaelson! If you like her music, you might want to check out Grace Potter ("Falling or Flying" is my favorite) and Kendall Payne.

I am also a fan of the Friday Freakouts. Also, Friday Fraternities and Saturday Sororities... I think not. :)

#1: Anna - That was one of your favorite stories growing up? How are you not scarred for life? I'm actually a little nervous about going to sleep tonight since I think I'll have nightmares about it.
#2: Mike/Chompy: Your comments are consistently hysterical... i.e. I just finished laughing so hard that I cried.

I think Mark chose those pants because they have enough pockets to fit exactly $427. He's clearly been involved in many a secret handshake. You'd think with all that money he could find the time to see a seamstress to hem up the pants or perhaps buy pants that actually fit. Mark really is a tool-face.

Diana, the joke is as follows:
Q: What are the two sexiest animals on the farm?
A: Brownchickenbrowncow!! (to the tune of 70s porn music)
Additionally, here's one my pop-pop used to tell us
Q: How do you catch a unique rabbit?
A: Unique up on it

WHOA...I also took part in the John Hopkins Talent Search, took the Scholastic Aptitude Test, AND received a 440 in verbal and 540 in math. Did you take the test at Thomas Jefferson?

Ahh...districts. The judges sat behind the veiled chalkboard for district choir as well. I think I still have all my district choir music. The pressure for states audition was probably that of district x 1,000,000. They would cut some people off after singing 2 notes.

Congratulations Brian and Rebecca!! I'm really happy for you guys. And, that ring is beautiful! :)

I threw shotput and discus in highschool. The story begins one beautiful day in the Spring, when every high school kid was loitering outside. The yearbook photographer came to track practice to take photos for the yearbook. He wanted to capture one of me doing a rotation in the discus circle. I began my rotation like usual, put way too much power into it, and spun myself right out of the circle, falling on the way down, and spraining my ankle. Thank God that picture didn't end up in the yearbook.

I'm pretty sure eating at Jumbo Slice for the first time is much more than a major event... possibly monumental.
#25) Wednesday, December 10, 2008
Jumbo slice is essentially a hole-in-the-wall spot in Adams Morgan where you can eat a jumbo slice of pizza. Conversely, I think the jumbo slice of pizza could actually eat you. Delicious.

Done and done! I went to Atlantic City to gamble this weekend and I think I've since figured out what good odds are... double the chances? I think yes! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

Did 2009 ring in the year of crazy time warping where afternoon snacks occur in wee hours of the morning? :) Sorry you had to spend so much of your day in the car!
#28) Wednesday, January 14, 2009
Okay, with whom do you play this game? I just laughed out loud...really loud...inappropriately loud at work because of these captions. ALL of them are funny. I vote for New Yorker Caption Day to occur on a very regular basis.

TOTALLY agree about none of the characters in "The Heartbreak Kid" having moral centers. It really did make me lose my faith in humanity...for 2 hours.
#31) Wednesday, June 03, 2009
Really? "Journalish" 2? That wasn't offered at O'Connell. We had actual Journalism.
#32) Wednesday, June 24, 2009
Yay... I am officially the babyrazzi. Just wait until you get pictures from Mrs. Spellerberg. She has some MUCH better shots!

You are going to be spending your honeymoon sleeping in bed with a sea turtle? Has Rebecca approved of this?
#35) Thursday, October 01, 2009
I really like Ingrid Michaelson's Everybody album. I'm also really into Elisa's "Dancing" and Adele's "19". If you haven't heard either of the albums, I highly recommend checking them out. I think you'd like them.

If you are looking for a competent and non-pushy salesman (and friend of mine) at Honda of Tysons Corner, let me know. And, good luck car shopping!
#37) Monday, March 22, 2010
Haha! To make it easier, my friend's name is Ray Turner. Sooo... unless he dresses in drag at work I think we're good. :)
#38) Thursday, August 05, 2010 1) Who are you?
Katie
2) How do you know me?
I'm assuming it involved Anna and poker.
3) How and when did you find this site?
Probably 5 years ago when Anna would talk about the site at work.
4) Where is your website?
I'm still operating in 1992 and haven't started a website, blog, etc.
5) What would you like to say to the rest of us?
What up ssssuuuucccckkkaaaaaasssss????

I watched Pushing Daisies on Netflix 2 summers ago and was bummed I never watched it while it was airing to boost up the ratings. For a show that won 7 Emmys it stinks that they canned it so early. Enjoy the second season!

If you had to choose only one video game (either console or PC) to play the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
#42) Thursday, May 02, 2013
I just audibly laughed on a telecon reading your reference to "Harry Potter and the Vagina of Shadows". Mute button fail.
#43) Thursday, January 16, 2014
Season 4 of Dexter with John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer is probably my favorite season...of any TV show...ever.

As a current IBMer, I'm so sorry that you have had to work with Lotus Notes. It's one technology that has repeatedly brought me to the brink of quitting IBM.

Hopefully this isn't too much, but here's what I know to be certain. Sleep is the most important thing to you, Rebecca, and the baby so invest in ANYTHING that will help you sleep. For us, the Merlin Magic Sleepsuit was LITERALLY made of magic. The first night we put Kerrigan in it she slept for hours longer than usual. She used it for every nap and overnight sleep from whenever we got it (2 months?) until 6 months old. I recommend getting one and if it works, get another one since you'll occasionally (ha!) need to do laundry. We also got a ton of use out of our baby swing. We tried the 4moms super expensive swing and Kerrigan didn't like it. It didn't move fast enough. She slept in the other swing we got her from 1 month to 4 months old. We have 2 and she is outgrowing them so let me know if you'd like to have one when the baby arrives. They are both the Fisher Price snug-a-(insert animal here). We also use white noise every night and that helps a ton. You can use an old phone/tablet with a white noise app or get a standalone white noise machine.
Lastly, don't but a ton of any one type of bottle. I thought parents were RIDICULOUS when they would say "oh my baby doesn't take that bottle. He/she prefers this other type." I later learned that I was a judgmental jerk and babies have preferences. After buying and boiling 12 of one bottle type and 3 nipple sizes, Kerrigan came around and didn't like that bottle type. :( She had colic and we had to try a few different ones out before settling on Tommee Tippee anti-colic bottles.
Sorry for the bulk of info. Congratulations to you both! I know you have a ton of resources (a.k.a. Spellerberg baby-raising professionals) but I'm here if y'all have any questions or want an opinion from another new mom.

Catching up after vacation. Congratulations!! Also, your tag "offspring" made me actually laugh out loud. I'm getting ready to start vacating our house of baby stuff so if you are in need of anything, let me know!

"In the baby biz, there is a concept called a "wonder week" which is where the baby is precociously fussy and you "wonder" why you had it."
Hilarious! You should submit that to The Wonder Weeks app developer to add to their description

Totally agree about Stranger Things 2 sound mixing. We finally turned on closed captions because I couldn't determine the optimal volume where I could actually hear what was being said without waking the toddler.

Who are you? Katie Murphy
Where do you live? The boonies (i.e., Gainesville, VA)
How does the URI! Zone fit into your daily routine? It's one of the blogs I keep up with on inoreader and I check it 1-2x/week.

I watched El Camino last week and personally scored it an A. I'm genuinely curious what could have been improved/done differently to earn an A rating from you.
#54) Friday, October 25, 2019
Valid point. You definitely need to have all the Breaking Bad knowledge to appreciate it. I have a horrible memory so I had to keep asking my husband questions from Breaking Bad and I think his viewing rating was an F given that I kept making him pause it to answer questions.
#55) Monday, November 04, 2019
You have my endorsement. Please consider running for a larger office in the future because I'd like this type of thinking out in Prince William County...and the rest of the world.

Keep the excedrin migraine. You can't even buy it these days. https://people.com/health/two-excedrin-products-temporarily-discontinued/
